CEO & Co-Founder
Prior to 4Pines, Michael was the founder of Carta Fund Services, which was a private capital fund administrator that he formed in 2013 and later sold to AlterDomus in May 2017. Prior to Carta, Michael was the Chief Financial Officer of Portfolio Advisors for over eight years. During his time at Portfolio Advisors, Michael oversaw the firm’s growth from $2bn in AUM to over $11bn in AUM. During that substantial AUM growth, Michael oversaw all operations with regard to the firm’s management company, as well as all of the reporting aspects related to their funds management business. Prior to becoming the CFO of Portfolio Advisors, Michael was a Director of Finance and Fund Accounting of Moore Capital’s Japanese distressed debt joint venture and prior to that the Controller at the Blackstone Group in the private equity vertical. Michael started his career in private equity at Arthur Anderson back in 1997, servicing the PE space as a tax practitioner.
COO & Co-Founder
Prior to 4Pines, Bob was Head of Operations and Corporate Strategy for Carta Fund Services, where he implemented the management system to grow the firm to over $50B in Assets Under Administration before being acquired by Alter Domus in 2017. Following the acquisition, Bob continued as Head of Operations (US) along with managing the lift-out of a 45 person back office in Chicago. Prior to joining Carta in 2014, Bob spent 20 years in the technology sector in roles ranging from product and process development to head of operations, business development and client support for a number of multinational public companies.
Bob spent 19 years as a Distinguished Engineer at IBM where he developed automation solutions for engineering and business problems. Bob was further a part of the Watson Custom Engagement team that delivered over 27 global solutions to industries spanning eCommerce, supply chain, marketing automation, digital experience and order management. Bob holds multiple patents in the software automation space where his inventions automate applications, software build processes and workflows.
Brian has over twenty years of private equity accounting and finance experience working for top tier investment managers such as Blackstone, TPG, Citigroup PE and Merrill Lynch. Brian’s responsibilities have included managing the operations of private equity funds and has extensive knowledge of direct investments, funds of funds, GP accounting, valuations, hedging, financial reporting and complex waterfall fund structures. Brian’s primary focus is managing a team that oversees daily client operations and deliverables, financial and investor reporting requirements and managing fund audits.
In his role as Head of Product for 4Pines Fund Services, Jon shares a passion for financial technology and client services. With a 20+ year fintech career, he’s successfully developed and launched financial technology products, oversaw their implementation, and ran operations within the financial services market.
Most recently, Jon served as Head of Private Clients for Alter Domus, a large, international fund administrator. While there, he created a new technology product that merged the idea of technology and client service, further branded it and brought this new product to market.
Jon further worked at SS&C Technologies as Director of Private Capital Marketing and Sales. While there, he developed a new brand, “Co-Source,” for the family office market, brought $80 billion of new assets to the platform, all in less than 1.5 years.
In 2005 Jon joined a start-up company, FundCount, which offered integrated accounting and investment analysis software to small hedge funds. At the time, the firm had only 3 employees, 15 customers, and a software product focused exclusively on small hedge funds. In Jon’s 10 years at FundCount, he helped grow the company to over 120 clients, adding clients in multiple markets such as hedge funds, fund administrators, private equity funds, foundations, single and multi-family offices.
Jon ‘s career began in 2000 when he joined Financial Navigator (FN) with a clientele of over 100 family offices. In his four years at FN, Jon managed the operations, marketing, and sales for the company. Jon further implemented a change to the product licensing agreement that resulted in a 75% increase to recurring revenues.
