4Pines Fund Services Appoints Michael Stefanoni Head of AML/KYC and Fund Data Operations
Stefanoni to lead firm’s AML/KYC programs and data management
STAMFORD, CONN. NOVEMBER 10, 2020 – 4Pines Fund Services announced today the appointment of Michael Stefanoni as Head of Fund Data Operations. Stefanoni will lead the firm’s compliance and risk operations, managing the spectrum of due diligence requirements and nuances that private equity clients need, and regulators expect. He joins 4Pines Fund Services from fund administrator Alter Domus, where was an AML Compliance Specialist.
“AML and Know Your Customer programs have come under increased scrutiny, and they are becoming an operational vulnerability for financial institutions,” said 4Pines Fund Services CEO, Michael Trinkaus. “Our approach illustrates how client-focused talent, supported by the right data operations, deliver higher quality performance and confidence. Mike possesses an impressive capacity to navigate the complex conversations and subtleties that AML and KYC programs require. And he organizes these conversations and outcomes based on an astute and thorough use and organization of data. I’m excited to add his skills to our team.”
At Alter Domus, Stefanoni led communications with new and existing clients’ CFOs, investor relations directors, compliance officers, and legal counsel regarding agreement completion and documentation. This included KYC documents, and investor relations-related service proposals. He was also responsible for reviewing Limited Partners’ subscription agreements for AML and KYC compliance, and prepared regulatory checks and onboarding templates for them, fielding related questions along the way.
“4Pines Fund Services knows that data and compliance management can be done smarter,” said Stefanoni. “It’s a complicated space that requires more than staying on top of the regulations and renewals – you have to be able to identify and ask the right questions of the right people. The technology that 4Pines has in place makes that process more efficient – and more effective – for clients. I’m thrilled to be joining a team that combines the best of client service and emerging fintech under one roof.”
Prior to Alter Domus, Stefanoni was an AML Compliance Specialist with CARTA Fund Services, LLC, where he created and implemented the company’s KYC and AML policies and procedures. CARTA was acquired by Alter Domus in 2017.
